Monthly Board Meetings
The activities of the Tulsa Newcomers Club are coordinated by the Board of Directors, consisting of about 20 members. The board meets at 9:30 am on the first Monday of the month in a member’s home. Being a board member is a wonderful way to become better acquainted with Newcomers and their activities.
Monthly Luncheons
On the second Thursday of each month, Newcomers meet in a local restaurant or country club for a luncheon to enjoy good food and conversation. Program formats include speakers, style shows in the spring and fall, a spring fundraiser, an interest group review in September, and a festive December meeting with a gift exchange and Christmas music. Announcements, drawings for door prizes from area businesses, and a drawing for Split the Pot are also on the agenda.
Monthly Coffee and Salad Socials
On the fourth Thursday of the month in January through October, Newcomers meet in a member’s home for a very informal coffee or salad social. Coffee socials are held on even-numbered months (February, April, etc.) at 10 am with food provided by board members. Salad socials are held on odd-numbered months (January, March, etc.) at 11 am with each member bringing a salad, bread, or dessert to share.
Evening Socials
About four evening socials for couples and singles are held each year. Evening socials have included Cinco de Mayo and Halloween parties, a Bourbon Street Wine and Chocolate Crawl, road rallies, and progressive dinners. Traditionally, a Holiday Dinner Dance is held in December.

Ladies and Couples Golfing
Newcomers love to play golf. This group has set tee times on Mondays and Fridays at various locations.
Ladies Evening Out (LEO)
This splendid group of fascinating women meets at various locations and times. Each month, a different group member selects a restaurant and activity for an evening out.
Mah Jong
Some Newcomers love Mah Jong so much that they meet every Wednesday at noon at the Fox and Hound Restaurant at 71st and Garnett. Mah Jong, a game that originated in China, involves skill, strategy, and calculation, as well as a certain degree of luck.
Movie Date
Some Newcomers are real movie buffs. After the social on the fourth Thursday of the month, the group decides on a movie to see that afternoon. Some members even go to see a movie a second time.
Wine Tasting
Some Newcomers love tasting different wines. The group for couples and singles meets at 7:30 pm on the second Friday of the month in a member’s home. Their December activity is a fun-filled Christmas party.
Book Club
The Book Club meets at 9:30 am on the third Tuesday of each month at First Watch (in the Plaza Shopping Center at 81st and Lewis). After catching up over breakfast, the group informally shares opinions, comments, and a lively discussion about the book of the month.
Bowling
On the second and fourth Mondays of the month, Newcomers meet at 10:30 am at Riverlanes Bowling (www.riverlanesbowling.com) at 8711 S. Lewis to bowl without the pressure of a league. (Shoes and balls are provided.)
Couples Potluck Pinochle
Pinochle is a fun trick-taking card game. Newcomer couples and singles meet for a potluck dinner before playing Pinochle. The date and location vary.
Scrapbooking
Newcomer scrapbookers love designing creative pages for their family's photo memories. Take a sandwich and your project to a member’s home at 11 am on the Fourth Tuesday of the month. You will have fun.
Cocktails and Conversation
This couples and singles group meets from 6 to 8 pm in a member’s home on the third Saturday of the month. Each Newcomer takes an appetizer to share. Newcomers in the group take turns hosting.

Monday Bridge
The Monday Bridge Group is very popular. The players meet at 11:30 am on the second and fourth Mondays in an area restaurant. Join their friendly group of playersthey would love to grow.
Couples Bridge
The Couples Bridge Group is one of the groups that lets the guys get involved. They meet on the first Monday of the month in a member’s home. The players take turns hosting.
Weekend Couples Bridge
The Weekend Couples Bridge Group was formed primarily for those who could not play during the workweek. The group meets on the fourth Saturday in a member’s home.
Ladies Evening Bridge
This group is currently being organized.

Daytime Bunko
Bunko is a very easy-to-learn game played with dice. The fun-loving group meets on the third Thursday of the month at Hideaway Pizza at 103rd & Memorial at 11:30 am for lunch followed by play. Each player puts $5 in the pot for prizes, and the winners are announced at the end.
Evening Bunko
This informal group meets at 7 pm on the fourth Wednesday of the month in a member’s home. (Most of the group members are not able to play during the day.) Bunko is a very easy-to-learn game played with dice.

Daytime Canasta
Canasta, a card game played by many Newcomers, meets at 11:30 am on the third Monday of the month. They currently have lunch and play canasta at Hideaway Pizza at 103rd and Memorial
Hand and Foot (Double Canasta)
Hand and Foot is a card game related to Canasta. The fun-loving group takes a sandwich to a member’s home on the third Friday of the month. The group has a great time from 11:30 am to 2:30 pm.

Breakfast Club
This very informal breakfast group shows up at 9:30 am on the third Friday of the month to have breakfast at First Watch in the Plaza Shopping Center at 81st & Lewis. They enjoy catching up and solving the problems of the world.
Lunch on First Thursday (LOFT)
The very informal LOFT group provides a great way to become familiar with area restaurants. Members take turns selecting a restaurant and making reservations for the dining out opportunity on the first Thursday of the month.
Dinner Club
Dinner Club groups, generally eight in number, meet informally in member’s homes. Each group determines its own dates, times, and menus. This is an excellent way to become better acquainted with other Newcomers.
Meet and Eat Group
On the third Thursday night of the month, couples and singles meet at a designated time in a member’s home for Happy Hour and then go to an area restaurant. Each member takes a turn hosting.
Out to Lunch Bunch (OTLB)
The very informal OTLB group provides a great way for couples and singles to become familiar with area restaurants. On the fourth Friday of the month, the group meets at a designated time and place for great food and conversation.

Couples Mexican Train Dominoes
Mexican Train is an easy-to-learn game that the group plays with double-twelve dominoes. The group of couples and singles meets at 7 pm on the first Saturday of the month at Fellowship Lutheran Church, 6727 S Sheridan. Newcomers bring a snack or dessert to share and take turns hosting.
Daytime Mexican Train Dominoes
The very casual daytime group meets at 1 pm at a member’s home on the last Wednesday of the month. Mexican Train is an easy-to-learn game that the group plays with double-twelve dominoes.
